Editing and proofreading are two essential elements for any newspaper, writers, or academic researchers and publishers. Mr. Zaki holds TEFL and TESOL certificates which prove how much quality he puts into editing and proofreading. Below is an example of students' writing. Feedback is given at the end of the article. Proofreading is very important and crucial for any student who wants to learn English.

Today is Sunday, so Alice and her friend Ann are going to spend their time in the beauty salon.
When they go there, they will see many customers who are waiting their turn.
Even if they see their turn, which is going to be a long one, they still want to have a haircut in this place, so they get the number, then they sit on a sofa.
They read a journal and they see a man having a bath and he has a perfect body.
Alice said:
If someone wants to be like him-- that is very difficult. They need to have good nutrients and overcome the pain. They must be careful because if not, they would be disabled.
The most important thing is that you need to like the gym and have some motivation.
That is fantastic!
“However, I think the picture is fiction because his muscle was bent in some way so it looked not real,” Anna said.
After the conversation, the receptionist calls Alice’s number; she can have a haircut now.
When she meets a hairdresser, she said that she wants to make curly hair. One minute later, the hairdresser brings a weird liquid.
The hairdresser said, “You use that sufficient liquid to make her hair wet, and then cover it with a plastic bag.”
After removing the plastic bag, she takes a weird liquid to wash her hair. Then she sees her hair become curly automatically.
She goes out with a confident face, but after one day, she regrets that she does not do the haircut because her hair now is very curly and her hair’s color changes.
Feedback after editing and proofreading:
Dependent clause starts with ‘when’ , ‘while’ , ‘if’ … ,we put the comma after the clause
many/much/a lot of
We use many with countable nouns. I saw many people. Many cars/pens/keys…
We use much with uncountable nouns. I like to eat food with much sugar.
Much salt, much water,...
We use ‘ a lot of ‘ when we don’t know if the noun is countable or not.
A lot of people
A lot of sugar
Their books (possessive determiner )
My books are not yours. My books aren’t your books.
the passive form of all tenses and modal verbs
Active sentence: subject, verb, object
I bought a book. (this sentence is in the simple past)
I need the passive form if I don’t want to mention the subject. I don’t care about it.
A book was bought.
Form of passive:
object→ subject + was/were + past participle (regular → add ‘ed’ worked, irregular → take the third column→ go, went, gone -> so gone is the past participle of ‘go’
We can’t link two sentences using a comma. That’s an error. It’s called a comma splice
To solve this problem, we use ‘, and’ or a semicolon ;
My hair is good.
